An antique or vintage Silver frame will forever be a timeless object whether it is given as a gift or a personal keepsake. As a precious metal Silver is commonly known for its reflective properties and has many symbolic meanings around the world including hope, self-reflection, strength, and wealth. Since a frame is intended to enhance the photo or picture it contains then Silver is often the perfect material to use as it does not try to dominate the image. Silver has always been an expensive material so only the very best will be entirely solid with the rest usually pressed into shape with a hollow inside. If the frame is Sterling Silver rather than Silver Plate then it must have impressed hallmarks somewhere (although these can often appear hidden within the overall detailing). And if it dates to the latter part of the 19th Century or later then there is a good chance it will be sized to fit the common photograph sizes still in use today.
