This early French side cabinet is a very rare piece in good quality Kingwood with stunning inlaid detail throughout. The cabinet is in very nice original condition with a good rich colour and patina, dating from the late 18th century circa 1780.
The sides of the cabinet have beautiful inlaid floral panels with scrolling foliage. The corners feature inlaid floral motif with an attractive circular design inlaid to the upper frieze.
The piece has nice, unusual proportions with the upper glazed marquetry inlaid door having an internal shelf above the central inlaid drawer with its original brass knob. The lower cabinet is also shelved and still retains its original metal mesh grill to the door. The cabinet has its original thick black figured marble top and is raised on elegant turned tapering legs with bronze ormolu feet cast with an acanthus leaf design.
This has its original bronze ormolu escutcheons, locks (no longer working) and keys.
This is a great size, very rare to find a piece with these proportions, particularly from this early period.
It measures 120 cms high by only 38 cms wide by 30 cms deep.
UK delivery can be arranged with our trusted furniture courier and costs £70 plus vat to most destinations.
